While foraging for interesting clips at the NFB of Canada i stumbled upon a trailer to this nice looking documentary: Roadsworth, "a documentary film about a stencil artist's clandestine campaign to make his mark on the streets." Check the NFB website with infos to the movie here - for the artist website go here.

They digitized over 700 of their films and are offering them for free. That´s fantastic - now we just need to find what we like and then have the time to watch it. Go - have a look - and enjoy. Down below is just one the films you can find there, and Yes you can embed them.

I just felt in love with Tilt Shift Photography. After reading the blog entry at ISO50 i tried to work on some of my own images. Smashing Magazine sums up a lot of amazing photographies, tutorials and videos.

After working on some pictures i tried to do it on a short movieclip, too.

This goes back to the idea of a phantascope invented in the middle of the nineteenth century. I really like the combination of such an old mechanical analog idea with modern technics like the small camera and the mechanics to control its movements.

If you want to know more about these old ways of moving images have a look at this side.

I really would love to see the movie "Beautiful Losers"! Here is the Synopsis take from their website:

"BEAUTIFUL LOSERS celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation

In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.

Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth."

Featured artists are Ed Templeton, Shepard Fairey, Thomas Campbell and many more! Hope it comes to europe soon.

The Australian Surf/Skate company Insight has a great new campaign called "Dopamine". You can find one skate- and one surfmovie, a trailer and some pictures of the posters they did for the campaign. The skate-clip was filmed in Bali/Indonesia what makes it pretty interesting for all of you who went there for surfing. Why Dopamine you may ask..here you have their answer: "When you are attracted to someone your brain releases the drug dopamine giving the same reaction that one gets from thrill seeking, sex, music, humanitarianism, surfing and skating to name a few." - Dopamine and Insight website.

Really nice musicvideo by director Luis Briceno and a great hommage to the art-film-classic "Der Lauf der Dinge" from 1987 by Peter Fischli and David Weiss.
